How to Set Up a Lace Wallet

Install the Lace extension, record your recovery phrase, and prepare to connect the wallet to glasshaus.

November 25, 20258 min readBy glasshaus team

Lace is the recommended Cardano wallet for glasshaus. The extension runs best on Google Chrome and Brave, which is why the wallet connection modal now checks your browser. Follow this walkthrough to install the Lace extension, record the 24-word recovery phrase, and create a strong password before connecting to glasshaus.

What you need before you start

  • Google Chrome or Brave browser
  • A secure place to store a 24-word recovery phrase
  • 10 minutes of uninterrupted time so you can complete the onboarding in a single sitting

Step 1: Install the Lace browser extension

Open the official Lace listing in the Chrome Web Store and click "Add to Chrome." Brave users can open the same listing because Brave is Chromium-based. Verify the publisher is lace.io before installing anything.

Click Add to Chrome to install Lace. Brave users can follow the same flow because Brave shares the Chrome extension ecosystem.

Step 2: Confirm the install and pin the extension

Chrome shows a toast once Lace has been added. Pin the extension to your toolbar so it is easy to open while you are on glasshaus.

Step 3: Launch Lace and pick the right onboarding path

Open the Lace extension. Choose "Create" to make a brand-new wallet, "Connect" for hardware wallets, or "Restore" if you already have a seed phrase. New glasshaus members should select "Create."

Step 4: Select Cardano as your blockchain

glasshaus runs on Cardano, so keep the default Cardano option selected. You can add Bitcoin wallets later inside Lace, but start with Cardano to connect to glasshaus.

Step 5: Choose the recovery method

Pick "Recovery phrase" unless you already manage PGP keys for the paper wallet workflow. The 24-word phrase is the simplest secure option.

Recovery phrase is the fastest way to finish setup and works across all Cardano wallets.

Step 6: Save every word of the 24-word recovery phrase

Lace reveals 24 unique words. Write them down in order and store them offline. Never share them with anyone. You can use the copy-to-clipboard button if you are transferring the phrase into a secure password manager.

Treat the recovery phrase as the master key to your assets—store it securely offline.

Step 7: Create your wallet password and finish

Name the wallet (for example, "glasshaus tokens") and create a strong password with at least 10 characters, mixed case, numbers, and symbols. Confirm the password to unlock the wallet.

Next steps: connect Lace to glasshaus

After Lace confirms your wallet is ready, return to glasshaus, open the wallet menu, and choose "Connect Lace wallet." Lace will ask you to sign a message so we can link the wallet to your account. Once connected, you can participate in portfolio governance, contribute capital, and track distributions directly inside glasshaus.
